The Big Softy!

I am going to let you all in on a little secret. Ray is a BIG SOFTY!
Yesterday evening Ray and I had to make a quick run into town and as we are leaving our dirt road headed for the black top, right next to our garbage can is a frightened shaking little black bundle of cute. I being the practical one rolled my eyes and said we really do not need ANOTHER dog.
Ray was out of the car before I could finish my sentence with the little waif cuddled in his arms, her resting her weary head on his shoulder. I only had to take one look at Ray and the puppy and I knew we had just added another animal to our collection.
We went back to the house to leave her with the kids. Our daughter saw her and squealed "oh she is soooooooooooo cute" and promptly informed us we are keeping her. Needless to say, my feeble attempts at protest were melted like warm butter as the evening wore on.
We named her Matilda, we took her to have a vet check and she was given a clean bill of health, so now we have 4 dogs!

Lamentations 3:22 - 26 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

In the last hours of the Civil War, in a desolate, muddy cornfield . . .
Jeremiah Tate, a battle-hardened Union officer who has long since forgotten God, shoots and severely wounds a young Confederate named Elijah Bell. With the words “Be God’s messenger as I have been,” the dying Bell hands Tate a worn Bible.
And so begins that Bible’s moving and mysterious journey through history—told in parallel story lines—beginning with Tate and leading to Gary Brandon.
