Eye To Eye – IKE Strikes the US

This past weekend the US was hit with a devastating hurricane named IKE and boy did he do the damage. He struck the gulf coast with a fury. We have friends in the Florida pan handle area that said that swells were felt all the way over there.
Roaring winds, waves and rain ravaged the Galveston coastline tearing everything up in its path.

Ray,
I wanted to ask you to pray for us down here in Galveston. It sounds like it could be bad here. They are talking about having a 10-15 ft storm surge plus the rain. The Seawall is 17ft. Please pray that the Seawall holds all the water back and that there is minimal flooding. Also pray that it is only a cat 2. I live in a mobile home. Please pray that it is still standing when this is all through. I am having enough troubles with Charlie passing and losing my job soon and having to look for another one. I really don't need to lose my home on top of all that. I am going over to a friends house here in Galveston. I have never been through a hurricane. It is really scary. I really wish Charlie were here. I think this has been the hardest year of my life. Anyway please pray for us down here.

I have not heard back from Pat yet. Tracye and I have been praying for her every time we think of her.
PZ Pastor Wayne Hardin of Grace Community Church in Dayton Texas also has been hit. We have not heard back from him yet, but we know that Dayton was hit with torrential rain and flooded out.
We have other friends and PZ Insiders that live in the area and we have been praying for them, hoping that all is well.
We know that there isn’t any electricity and about two million still do not have electricity. This is a conservative estimate too.

U.S. to 'guarantee' Palestinian state
The U.S. is planning to issue a letter guaranteeing the country will back agreements reached during current Israeli-Palestinian negotiations aimed at creating a Palestinian state before President Bush leaves office in January, WND has learned.
The move is intended to ensure any agreements reached by the Israelis and the Palestinian Authority, and spelled out in a joint document, will be recognized by the next U.S. administration and binding for Israel and the PA.
The information comes as Jacob Walles, the U.S. consul-general, stated in an interview with a major Palestinian newspaper yesterday that Israel and the PA agreed to negotiate Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley area leading to the Dead Sea.

I wake up this morning and what stares me in the face is a financial meltdown for this nation.
Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch both are going belly up. The house of cards the financial institutions put together beginning to crumble. Their poor decisions were based purely on self serving greed and profit margins. Because of that greed, this nation is falling.
This is just another symptom of the sickness this nation has contracted.
No longer are we a nation that takes the high and sure road. We have become a nation that is always on the hunt for a quick buck, the next fix, the next want.
We no longer love
We no longer care
But more importantly …
We no longer stand with the apple of God’s eye, Israel.
U.S. Refuses to Aid Israel in Iran Attack
The United States has turned down Israeli requests for military assistance in attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. This will hamper the tiny Jewish state in facing off alone against the much larger Islamic Republic, which is equipped with some of the latest military technology from Russia. As compensation, the U.S. has agreed to bolster Israel’s missile defense system.
Israel would not be allowed to refuel its military planes in Iraq, or even use Iraqi airspace for a flyover on the way to Iran. Even if Israeli jets were to reach Iran, they might not be able to carry powerful enough bombs to do the job. The U.S. has refused to supply Israel with equipment such as bunker-buster bombs critical in destroying heavily fortified nuclear installations.

So waking up this morning staring at the slow meltdown this nation is facing is not surprising.
Look at who we have running for president and who may very well win … A “Christian” (?) Muslim named Obama.
In a March 6, 2007 interview with the New York Times the reporter noted that Senator Obama "recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent."
Obama knows the Quran and can speak Arabic like any good Muslim should.
How many “Christian” Americans do you know that can do that?
Just last week in an interview with George Stephanophilis Obama made a slip of the tongue and said “My Muslim Faith” The reporter stepped in quickly and corrected Obama and then Obama stumbled around to regain his composure.
How many “Christian” Americans do you know that would have that sort of slip up?
We look around and wonder why we are where we are.
I look around and wonder what took so long.
Out of all this doom and gloom we need to remember that no matter what, there is a sovereign God who is in control.
Our nation is one that was founded on the principals of God and for sharing the gospel.
We have lost our way.
God chastises the ones He loves.
This nation has not been doing the right thing.
We need to repent, because repentance is a good thing. We need to realize that we are sinners and that we have come up short.
We have lost our way and we need to find it once again.
Is there hope?
There is always hope, but we will pay the consequences for the sins this nation has committed.
Over and over again I keep hearing the word FEAR.
We fear terrorist
We fear the economic meltdown
We fear high gas prices
We fear the democrats (or republicans depending on what side you are on)
All I hear about is the fear our nation has.
Well you know what?
I am getting to the point where I say “Bring it on!”
We are bad and we must repent. “Bring it on!”
Terrorists? “Bring it on!”
Meltdown? “Bring it on!”
High Prices? “Bring it on!”
I say “Bring it on!” because I am getting sick and tired of running around afraid all the time.
The inevitable has to come, lets get right with God and then we can start healing this land.
So bring on all this stuff. America needs a good spanking to wake her up to the realization that she is a Christian nation with a divine providence and a calling to share the gospel.
I say stop the fear and remember who it is we serve.
Pro 3:5-6 (KJV) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
I want to share some of the words Ben Franklin made to the continental congress.
“I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth -- that God governs in the affairs of men.
And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that "except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it."
I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall be become a reproach and a bye word down to future age. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human Wisdom, and leave it to chance, war, and conquest.
I therefore beg leave to move -- that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that service.”
We must get back to the Word of God. We have strayed off the narrow path and gone onto the wide path.
We have forgotten the laws of God and we need to return to the ways He laid out for us.
How do we get there?
It starts with a simple prayer….
2Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
