I spend a lot of time shouting from the roof tops about what I see going on around us in so many churches today. I believe we are witnessing the beginnings of the great falling away spoken of in the Bible. More and more churches and their leaders are elevating experience above the Word of God and allowing damnable heresies into the lives of the very people they were called (if truly called) to watch over as shepherds.
It is a spiritually deadly thing to ignore. My heart hurts for those who are being sold an empty gospel devoid of all power. How many people will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and hear the most heart breaking response one could here at a time to late to make a change?
Matthew 7:21 - 23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The words in Mathew 7: 21-23 are spoken to people who “think” they are going to heaven. People who “think” they have believed the truth. How sad!
Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
The only way to guard against being deceived is to know the Word of God and weigh every wind of doctrine, new teaching and any other man made idea against the Word of God. If it does not line up, line upon line and precept upon precept 100% with the Word of God then it is false teaching; period!
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
I know that we have always had false prophets and false teachers throughout history, but I believe we are seeing them hatched at rates never seen before, and they are exchanging the true gospel of Jesus Christ for a slick and deadly false gospel of self.
Below is a link to a blogger who wrote an excellent analogy of what we are witnessing today in our churches.
