Taking a stand Minimize

Ray and I often get emails telling us that we are to judgmental or we should not speak against "God's anointed" (even if they do teach doctrines of demons) etc. etc. If the email is not just plain ugly one of us will answer them back with a Scriptural foundation for why we wrote what we did; 99% of the time the person writing never responds. It is hard to argue with Scripture :-).

It is becoming increasingly hostile for those of us that are willing to take an unyielding stand for the Word of God. Today's, come as you are, no repentance, sign a card false gospel is sending people to hell. It is that blunt, that simple and that serious.

We recently had a missionary couple visit and speak from Tanzania Africa. What a precious work they are doing. After talking to us about the souls being saved and the precious men of God they were training to take the Gospel to their own people, they finished up with a question and answer. One of the questions asked was about the aids epidemic. There is so much press about curing aids and other horrible diseases plaguing the world, but especially Africa. I was glad to hear them say that hurling more money at the problem is not the answer. These people need the Savior. They need to be given the Gospel. They need the Holy Spirit through the Word of God to teach them that sin is wrong; that the behaviors, witchcraft, and superstitions that they live by are not the way. Education without a moral compass to guide it does not work the magic that the world is trying to accomplish. If we fill their belly’s and heal their ills but neglect their souls, what have we done?

The following quote says it well.

James Henley Thornwell said: "To employ soft words and honeyed phrases in discussing questions of everlasting importance; to deal with errors that strike at the foundations of all human hope as if they were harmless and venial mistakes; to bless where God disapproves, and to make apologies where He calls us to stand up like men and assert, though it may be the aptest method of securing popular applause in a sophistical age, is cruelty to man and treachery to Heaven. Those who on such subjects attach more importance to the rules of courtesy than they do to the measures of truth do not defend the citadel, but betray it into the hands of its enemies. Love for Christ, and for the souls for whom He died, will be the exact measure of our zeal in exposing the dangers by which men's souls are ensnared" (quoted in asermon by George Sayles Bishop, author of "The Doctrines of Grace and Kindred Themes," 1910).

Let us never grow weary in well doing and contending for the faith. Our reward is in heaven.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
(Hebrews 2:3 KJV)
