Another jesus being taught to youth!! Minimize

With youth ministers like this, is it any wonder we have the horrible mess the church is in today. This folks is a false teacher teaching a false gospel!!

Bart Campolo son of Tony Campolo had this to say and more to an arena in Tennessee attended by thousands of youth. The apple does not fall far from the cart.

" Campolo posed the question, “Where do you think Jesus is tonight?” He answered that question by saying, “Jesus is sleeping rough underneath the bridge in Knoxville,” adding that Jesus also is the self-loathing, hope-denying prostitute in a brothel, or even the lonely sophomore at the students’ school. "

I can answer Mr. Campolo as to where Jesus the risen Savior is tonight!

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Jesus is not the things he is describing in the above quote. Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!!!!!!

Revelations 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

More false teaching that he feeds these youth...

"“Tonight, Jesus is going to die for our sins,” Campolo said, but explained that this time it would not be on a cross. He would die on the concrete floor of a shack because the mother was too impoverished to care for him." You can read the rest of the article at this link

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Right now I know where my Jesus is.... I also know where Satan is too, sitting in Bart's lap... getting a big laugh and saying "you go boy".

Trayce,
Have you researched youth-specialties.com? Mr. Warren, this year, has incorporated their youth material into his purpose driven youth ministries. This is awful considering that YS promotes contemplative prayer/spirituality, labyrinths, yoga, etc... I cannot begin to imagine the damage this will do to the youth around the world because of the influence of the PDC movement.

Tracye, there is much more to this story than you know regarding our young people. Read these 2 stories, and you'll be convinced their is something very evil going on in our churches:

Christian Gore: Death Enthusiasts for Jesus?
http://tinyurl.com/ouezf

“Days of the Dead” at Cornerstone “Christian” Youth Camp
http://tinyurl.com/frpuk

Who would of thought we have to be more frightened of our children attending "Christian" events as much as secular

Love,
Lisa

Having worked in youth ministry for a number of years, I began to realize that it was producing nothing but rotten fruit. It seemed that the message was worldly, in other words, you didn't need to turn your back on sin, but could be a believer right where you are. And that's just what happened, unchanged lives. No one wanted to offend these kids by telling them that they weren't measuring up to a Godly standard.

Hello Lisa,

Thank you Lisa for your post and you are right!

Yes ... I know about that horrible satanic event that took place at cornerstone. I commented last week on it in our forum. I gave links to the awful stuff that took place at that evil event. It was promoted as a "Christian" festival. It was demonic to the core!

They promoted bands that were absolutely offensive. They promoted, wallowed and took glee in death. They promoted contemplative prayer, walking the labyrinth, and many other New Age activities.

I get angry when I see stuff like that. It should be Bible 101 to anyone with an ounce of clarity that those events had not one shred of anything to do with God and His Holy Word. These so called youth groups and organizations are poisoning our children.

As parents, we must personally check out everything our children are being exposed to by a church. I personally think that many churches are more dangerous to the souls of our youth than your everyday heathen establishment. At least with a heathen establishment you know they are not masquerading as Christians.

I have also had it up to my eyeballs with leaders who promote this evil; being called a part of the Body of Christ. Unless they repent and stop deceiving, they are enemies of the Cross! Period!

Phillipians 3:17 - 19 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

I also am aware of the lovers of all things death band; Showbread. Ingrid Schlueter of Slice wrote and article on it http://worldviewweekend.com/secure/cwnetwork/article.php?&ArticleID=905.

Here is the bands link http://www.showbread.net/news.php (WARNING) that web site is vile. I could only stomach about the first 45 seconds of the evil, murder glorifying video about half way down the page. If you check this out ... keep in mind that this band is promoted as a "Christian" band. The artilce that Ingris wrote on it was to expose an AOG church that had this band and others come play for their youth. When a church does that, then the enemy is running the show!

There is NO excuse!

Ok ok ... I am through with my morning rant at least until the next cup of coffee. :-)

well i personally think that rick warren is of the path!! but jesus is where his children are, and that means under a bridge with the homeless ect.. as he lives in side us. even tho they are not walking right does not mean Jesus is not there with them.. if im understanding this story right.

Re: Another jesus being taught to youth!!    By on Friday, July 21, 2006 11:39 AM
Hey Tracye,

Great job to you and Ray on this awesome site. Seems to get better all the time. I've read a number of Tony Campollo's stuff as well as watching him on a TV show with Steve Brown. The 2 of them would do a point/counterpoint type of show on contemporary issues from a Christian perspective, one conservative and one liberal. No guess as who the liberal Christian was. To be quite honest, I was really uncomfortable with Tony C.'s exposition when he sited Scripture and totally dumbfounded as to how he could take such radical positions. He would rail against the "religious right" but then quote Isaiah on how we should have social justice. Of course we should have social justice but you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you don't want the "religious right" bringing a Bible to the argument, then leave yours out as well. It seems that the Campollo father/son team are really spreading a Jesus that is not the Jesus of the Bible. So why do these things continue to shock me??

Blessings from Ethiopia,

don

Shawnna,

you said

"well i personally think that rick warren is of the path!! but jesus is where his children are, and that means under a bridge with the homeless ect.. as he lives in side us. even tho they are not walking right does not mean Jesus is not there with them.. if im understanding this story right."

I am sorry, but you are wrong. I do not mean that in a hurtful way, but out of love for Jesus Christ and God's Word it is my duty to speak the truth in love.

The truth about Rick Warren is he is a false teacher, a wolf in sheep's clothing. I have done 100's of hours of research as well as many others who are exposing his false gospel. The man is not teaching the Word of God. He is teaching the gospel according to Rick Warren. It is slick, sounds good, looks good, but just as deadly poisonous to the soul as any other false gospel.

As for being "of the path" There is only one path that leads to God; that is Christ Jesus! It is through Him and Him alone that we are able to have salvation. He only lives inside those who have believed in Him and Him alone.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus lives inside those who have accepted Him as their Savior and Lord. He does not live inside of everyone. That is also another New Age teaching.

Mr. Campolo said in that article that Jesus was laying under the bridges and is the prostitute down the street etc.

That is simply not true. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God making intercession for those who belong to Him.

Yes we should care for those who are downtrodden. If we see someone in need we should be willing to roll up our sleeves and help, but the most caring thing we can do is to share the true Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I would be glad to discuss this with you offline and give you countless URL's and a book list that will Scripturally show you why he is a false teacher. You can email me at tracye@prophezine.com

Thank you Don!

I hear ya, just when you think it could not get any worse another headline hits the wires. We truly are living in the last days! We should all look up because our redemption draws nigh.

Re: Another jesus being taught to youth!!    By Mr. Murray on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 5:12 PM
Umm...I can understand you perhaps, but let's take the comment with its meaning. I used to ask kids if they thought Jesus would ever go into a bar or brothel if he came to earth...In my eyes, it is exactly where you would find Jesus...With the lepers of our world....Those under the bridges, those in positions marginalized by society. Jesus didn't hang with the kings or wealthy, now did he? I think Campolo is primarily trying to say "blessed are the hungry" "blessed are the poor".... Just my two cents worth...

Re: Another jesus being taught to youth!!    By Tim on Saturday, August 19, 2006 12:18 PM
Tracey,

I hear where you are coming from on this matter, and it is something that we must be on the look out for, but I think part of Barts problem is that he is too abstract in thought not making known clearly what he means. For example: Where he talks about Jesue being the guy who lives under the bridge or the prostitue, I belive his intent of the coment is "pure and undefiled religion is ministering to orphans and widows" James 1:27. Often our faith or "religion" becomes compartmentalized or perhaps a ritualistic routine without any evidence (fruit) of Christ within us. Yes there is the side where we as believers need to pursue Christ and His holiness in us, that is extremely inportant, but I believe the statement Bart is making is ine where if Christ is truly in us, then we are ministering to the widowed and the orphana cup of cold water. Is Bart perfect in his theology, no but neither am I. The scripture says :we know in part and we prophecy in part." As ALL of us as believers make up the entie body of Christ, we all veiw some of the scripture accuratly, and we contribute towards all of the Body of Christ knowing him completly. Bart contributes his heart and understanding of the scriptures, as well as Charels Stanley, Chuck Swindol, Dr. Dobson, Pat Robertson, Keneth Haigen, Joyce Meyers and many others as well us we unnotable lay people. It is our responsibility to use the scripture as a litmus test to what is being said as well as a standard for ouwn beliefs. We then must discard what is not Biblical and retain that which is. In regard to being a teacher/Pastor we do have a great responsibility to teach as accuratly as possible the scriptures. but even all the wonderful teachers and preachers I mentioned above have been ridiculed at one time or another for their doctrine. I believe we fellow believers must pray for one another and trust that the Holy Spirit will do his work in the hearts. When we are able we should sit down and address things with one another and work through the scriptures TOGETHER instead of getting our nose bent out of shape. "Proverbs 27:17:Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." & "Matthew 5: 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." This term "peacmaker" literaly means those who confront, address and resolve the issue. The bottom line is simple: together we are stronger in advancing the Gospel and being Christ in the flesh to those who are desparate , dying and needy. Let's not spend our limited energies in combating oneanother but rather address, confront and resolve issues, glorified our Fahter in Heaven, and draw men, women and children unto Christ!

Humbly and Respectfully.

Your Brother in Christ,

Tim

Tim,

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with your over all premise that Bart said one thing but intended another.

His statement was that "Tonight, Jesus is going to die for our sins" and “Jesus is sleeping rough underneath the bridge in Knoxville,” Both statements are preaching another Jesus. Jesus Christ has already died for our sins. It is not an ongoing process. He is seated at the right hand of God, not laying under a bridge somewhere.

I hear what you are saying about we must not neglect our duty to help when we are presented with a need, but the Bible also teaches that we will always have the poor among us. It is a noble thing to have a heart for the sick and down trodden, but at the expense of the Gospel does no one any good. If we feed their belly and neglect their soul then it is nothing more than empty works.

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Re: Another jesus being taught to youth!!    By Tim on Saturday, August 19, 2006 2:22 PM
I agree! The Gospel must not be watered down. I do believe that Bart isn't communicating effectivly what he means. Perhaps He will clarify his remarks. I believe this because of the fruit in his life. There are many do gooders without Christ that have no effect in society. From what I can tell Urban Promise, a ministry Bart started in Camden, NJ is producing a lot of good and Godly "fruit." Perhaps I am excersizing a lot of grace in this matter. Let's pray not only for the students Bart has influence over, but also for Bart and others who have the ears of others, so that they will not willingly or unwillingly compromise the Gospel.

Keep in touch!

Lamentations 3:22 - 26  It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to  the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
