PZ SPECIAL REPORT - Major Food Shortages Begins
THIS IS A PZ SPECIAL REPORT. I AM SENDING THIS TO EVERYONE ON MY LISTS AND I AM POSTING IT TO THE PROPHEZINE HOMEPAGE.
PLEASE... TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS ENTIRE SPECIAL REPORT.
MUCH OF WHAT I AM REPORTING WAS DELIVERED TO ME THIS MORNING.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
PZ NOTE I got this from a PZ Insider. He is one of my sources when it comes to retail industry and economics.
Here is an email he shared with me from his brother whose wife is the Chief Produce Buyer for all "########" stores west of the Mississippi. His brother lives in the San Joaquin Valley. Simply stated, there's no water.
To date we have received 0.73 inches of rain since 1 Jul 13. That is 4 inches shy of normal and the long range forecasts do not call for any rain until after 1 Feb if at all. Snowpack in the Sierra's is 15% of normal.
Harris farms has released a statement saying they will leave about 40,000 acres fallow this year because the FEDS have decided to only deliver 10% of the water allocation for 2014. Lettuce is predicted to reach around $5.00 a head (if you can find it). Understand the farmers in the Salinas valley are considering the same action. So much for salad this summer unless you grow it yourself.
##### has told me that we lost 40% of the citrus crop due to the freeze in December. Driving into Fresno you can see much of the orange crop still on the trees rotting, without the income from the crop the farmers can't pay the workers to pick it. Several cities around here are considering water rationing as the lakes and reseviours (however you spell it) are around 20% of capacity and the water table is dropping rapidly.
Highs for this week are predicted to be in the low 70's and approaching records for January. Going to get ugly around here. Churches have begun special services simply praying for rain.
I have been warning people about this coming winter. Food prices will shoot up at least 25% by March. Start looking at your food as an investment. What you buy today, will cost you more in the weeks ahead.
This is not "survival" talk, this is plain common sense. If you have the extra funds, put that into food that you can store.
Folks am blown away at the news that landed on my desktop this morning. Talk about jumping out at you in 3D Technicolor. Keep reading and see...
Here is the first article I got this morning regarding the "organic" food industry. Already they are seeing major shortages. This is an "indicator" market. It is natural that these sort of markets feel the pain first. But what this signals is that the food industry is and has been feeling the strain and they are now losing the battle.
Organic Food Shortage Hits US
Organic and cage free eggs are becoming popular to the point that that some major grocery chains are reporting shortages.
A New Jersey ShopRite recently posted a sign saying the short supply was industry-wide and was due to increased demand and limited availability.
A Colorado blogger also snapped a picture in a Safeway store referencing a nationwide shortage of specialty and organic eggs.
And it seems supplies certain kinds of organic produce may also be temporarily limited.
Jon Steffy, of Organicproducegeek.com says demand during diet season, which he calls "resolution season", is amplified.
"So I think we notice it more as demand continues to grow for wholesome organic food," he said.
He also said organic cucumbers are one of a number of items that are harder to find right now.
Since Christmas, cucumbers supplies from Florida have almost ground to a halt and the Mexican supply is coming but it's just not ready yet.
And as the basic theory of economics goes, less supply drives up prices.
Take organic berries for example:
There was a strawberry shortage a couple weeks back and prices spiked
Experts say the primary reasons for the shortages are weather and demand.
So if your favorite organic produce is in short demand right now, some good bets for availability and decent prices are winter squash and dark leafy greens.
Back in the late fall 2013 there was a freak snowstorm that killed close to 300,000+ cattle. This is a major hit to the cattle market.
I know in Texas where they still have a 5 year drought they are dealing with, they are having to ship grass bails in from Colorado, Utah and other parts of the country just to feed the cattle. Ranchers are sending their female cattle to the slaughter houses becasue they can not afford to feed them anymore. It is the females that help re-stock the herd. SO if you are slaughtering your females, your herd does not grow. It is expected that the US will not see cattle herd growth returning until 2017, maybe even later.
This equates to major beef shortages which leads to even higher prices than we have already.
I got this news piece this morning as well...
Shivering Cattle Signal Higher McDonald’s Beef Cost: Commodities
As temperatures dipped to a record minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 32 Celsius), the crew at Dean Wang’s ranch in Baker, Montana, increased alfalfa-hay rations to give his cattle more energy during the arctic blast.
“Cattle are requiring more feed in order to just maintain their body temperature, instead of putting that extra energy into gaining weight,” said Wang, 46, who has about 850 cows that will calve this spring and 550 young cattle. “This year, everyone started feeding a little earlier than what they would have liked, because of the heavy snow and the cold.”
The deep freeze that swept across the U.S. last week, disrupting travel and boosting fuel use, is compounding stress on a shrinking domestic beef industry already struggling with high costs and weather shocks. While crops from oranges to winter wheat avoided major damage, the cold slowed the growth of livestock and extended a rally in Chicago cattle futures to a record, signaling higher beef costs for restaurants including McDonald’s Corp. (MCD) and Texas Roadhouse Inc.
The U.S. cattle herd contracted for six straight years to the smallest since 1952, government data show. A record drought in 2011 destroyed pastures in Texas, the top producing state, followed the next year by a surge in feed-grain prices during the worst Midwest dry spell since the 1930s. Fewer cattle will mean production in the $85 billion beef industry drops to a 20-year low in 2014, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.
“You sell your cattle because you can’t afford to feed” them, said Paul Looney, a Mineral, Texas-based rancher who serves as the first vice-president for the state’s Independent Cattlemen’s Association. “We were hit across the board in Texas. Everyone had to reduce herd size, so that impacts the whole beef business, from the ranch to the plate.”
Cattle futures rallied 13 percent since the end of June and reached $1.381 a pound today, the highest since trading began on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1964. The Standard & Poor’s GSCI gauge of 24 raw materials slipped 0.2 percent in the period, and the MSCI All-Country World Index of equities rose 14 percent. The Bloomberg Treasury Bond Index was little changed.
Prices that settled at $1.37075 yesterday may reach $1.405 in 2014, according to the median of six analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Futures climbed for five straight years through 2013, the longest streak on record.
Commercial beef output in the U.S., the biggest producer, may drop 5.4 percent this year to 24.32 billion pounds (11.03 million metric tons), the lowest since 1994, the USDA said Jan. 10. The herd reached a 61-year low of 89.3 million head as of Jan. 1, 2013. The agency will update its estimate on Jan. 31.
Frigid air covered much of the U.S. last week, with the morning temperature in Chicago on Jan. 7 lower than at the South Pole, while the Minnesota towns of Embarrass and Brimson were the coldest in the contiguous U.S. with readings of minus 35, the Weather Prediction Center in College Park, Maryland, reported.
Animals have a harder time generating enough heat to stay warm during cold weather, said Dustin Oedekoven, South Dakota’s state veterinarian. If cattle use energy for heat, that takes away from the calories used to put on weight.
The impact of last week’s freeze may be limited because extra feed use is standard for livestock operations during winter months, and “overall, it’s not a detriment,” said Harry Knobbe, who farms and feeds cattle in West Point, Nebraska. Cattlemen across the Midwest prepare by bringing animals to winter pastures where there are more natural or man-made shelters from the wind, with some closer to barns, which makes it easier to feed the extra rations.
As temperatures warm back up, animals will get their appetite back and gain weight faster, said Arlan Suderman, a senior market analyst in Wichita, Kansas, for Water Street Solutions Inc.
While herds are shrinking, so is U.S. beef demand. Per-capita consumption of the meat may shrink to 53.6 pounds this year, the lowest since at least 1970, the government has projected. Higher grocery bills may be prompting consumers to choose cheaper alternatives, said Dick Quiter, an account executive at McFarland Commodities LLC in Chicago.
Retail ground-beef averaged $3.477 a pound in November, after climbing in September to $3.502, the highest since at least 1984, the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show. Whole chickens fetched $1.518 a pound in November, while pork chops sold for $3.681 a pound. Per-capita chicken demand may jump 2.8 percent to 83.7 pounds this year as pork consumption rises 0.2 percent to 47 pounds, the USDA predicts.
“It’s still a bargain to buy pork and chicken compared to beef,” Quiter said. “I just can’t imagine that we can keep these kinds of prices for long at that kind of a disparity.”
The number of cattle in American feedlots was the second-lowest on record on Dec. 1, government data showed. While corn dropped 49 percent since reaching a record $8.49 a bushel in August 2012, prices are still 25 percent higher than the average of the past two decades. Use of the grain in livestock feed will jump 22 percent this year, the USDA forecasts.
Even as domestic beef demand drops, global consumption this year will be the highest since 2008 as higher incomes allow people in emerging economies to afford more protein, according to the USDA. U.S. exports totaled 2.36 billion pounds in the 11 months through Nov. 30, up 4.4 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to the latest government data. Japan, Canada and Mexico were the biggest buyers.
Hedge funds and other money managers still are betting on a rally, holding a net-long position of 105,024 futures and options contracts in cattle as of Jan. 7, Commodity Futures Trading Commission data show. That’s the most bullish since October 2011 and up 64 percent from a year earlier.
Shrinking cattle supplies and higher beef prices are increasing bills for consumers, grocers and restaurants. While total global food costs fell 3.4 percent last year, meat prices climbed 0.5 percent, according to data from the United Nations. Consumers may pay as much as 3.5 percent more for beef this year, the USDA has projected.
Costs for beef at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. (CBRL), the Lebanon, Tennessee-based operator of 625 restaurants across 42 states, were “up sharply” in the three months ended Nov. 1 from a year earlier, Lawrence E. Hyatt, the chief financial officer, said on an earnings conference call with analysts on Nov. 26.
For McDonald’s, the world’s largest restaurant chain, beef is one of the “biggest impacts on commodity cost” in the U.S., Peter J. Bensen, the chief financial officer, said on an earnings call with analysts on Oct. 21. Texas Roadhouse raised prices in the last two years as the Louisville, Kentucky-based steakhouse chain tries “to fight off what’s been pretty high beef inflation,” Scott Colosi, the company’s president, said yesterday during a presentation to investors in Orlando.
Producers have been slow to boost output even after the run-up in prices. It can take three years to breed a cow and raise its calf to slaughter weight.
Texas rancher Looney, who is 64 and has been in the cattle business his whole life, said his herd is still about 90 percent below its size from 2005 because of the prolonged dry weather. It will take years for the pastures to come back, even if there is normal rainfall, he said. About 44 percent of Texas was in still in drought in the week ended Jan. 7, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
An unseasonably early storm in the Black Hills region of South Dakota produced as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) of snow in early October. At least 21,671 South Dakota cattle died because of the blizzard, according to voluntary reports by producers to the state’s animal industry board.
“It has been really, bone-chillingly cold,” said Jodie Anderson, the Pierre, South Dakota-based executive director of the state’s Cattlemen’s Association. “This is a time of year when folks are generally prepared for the cold. From a producer perspective, it just makes everything much more difficult. You have to make sure equipment will start and remain running, and it will take more time. You have to provide additional calories to those animals so they can stay warmer and have adequate nutrition.”
Frigid temperatures may continue to present challenges to ranchers because the recent cold was part of a pattern of extreme weather that occurs every decade or so and has been plaguing the U.S. with temperature swings from mild to freezing for more than a month, said Tom Kines, a meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc. in State College, Pennsylvania. The affected region extends across the upper Midwest into the South and eastward to the Atlantic, he said.
“When you get extreme weather conditions like we saw last week, you’re going to see some cattle not gain weight like they should,” said Lane Broadbent, president of KIS Futures Inc. in Oklahoma City, who has been a commodity broker for more than two decades. “Our supplies are going to be tight, and we’re seeing demand overseas improving too. It looks like it’s going to be a pretty good 2014 for the cattlemen.”
Getting Your Food Pantry In Order… STARTING NOW
Many of you know that I wrote the book " Survive The Coming Storm - The Value of A Preparedness Lifestyle"
I wrote this primarily to help people get a "kick start" on getting their "arks" in order. If you feel like you are behind the "8-Ball" then read my book. You can get it at Amazon both in book form and on Kindle.
There is no more waiting for EMP attacks, Terrorist Attacks, or any other of these apocalyptic ideas.
People need to realize that the “poo” is beginning to hit the fan NOW, but there is still time to act, but you have to act NOW.
IT IS NOT TO LATE TO START SOMETHING NOW
Back in November I held a special Prophezine Online lecture. I talked about how to start your food storage now.
Seeing these headlines today, I want to share this package with all of you again.
Let me ask you this, "Is It Worth Spending $5.00 For You and Your Family?"
That is all that I am asking for. Now if you feel led to donate $15, $20, $50 to help expand our efforts here it would be a huge blessing.
Here is what I am offering.....
- My lecture "Getting Your Food Pantry In Order… STARTING NOW" this is approximately 90 minutes long.
- 2 hour interview with Fernando Aguirre who survived the economic downfall of Argentina. Much of what took place there is beginning to take place here in the US.
- Three different plans on how you can acquire a years food. One of these plans will probably fit your families needs and keep it affordable.
- My PPT presentation of "Food - Water - Medicine" in PDF - This was very well recieved at Future Congress 1 and I was asked to repeat this at FC-Con 2.
Again all we are asking is that you give a gift of just $5.00 for the PZ Food Prep Special.
If you feel led to donate $15, $20, $50 to help our efforts here it would be a huge blessing.

USE THESE RESOURCES!!
I have a huge area dedicated to food storage, food production, gardening, raising critters, things that can help you now as well as help you in the future.
All you need to do is LOGIN to the Prophezine website and mouse over the PREPAREDNESS tab. You will notice that once you login the tab has topics to choose from. This is not open to the public.
In fact, when you login, you will suddenly see UNDERGROUND appear on the navigation bar. You can't even see that unless you are logged in.
Again these are great resources to take advantage of.
Another resource that you can leverage is Emailing me. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help.
Finally, I know that some of you are asking... HOW DID WE GET HERE? Why is this happening?
Folks, we are not a good nation anymore. We have turned our backs on God and in fact the US is in out and out war against God. God is no longer wanted or welcome in our nation. He is seen as the enemy.
I honestly belive that God's hand of blessing and protection has been lifted.
Why you may ask?
Here is an article that I also got this morning, it tells the tale.
55 Million Babies Killed Since Roe v. Wade
by Kristan Hawkins | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com |
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about today?
Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room working while watching my sons play. I began to think about what my life would have been without them. How different I would be. How their lives have already made this world a different place since they were born. How much I would hurt if I had chosen abortion.
Then, I thought of the more than 55,000,000 lives that have been taken in the U.S. since 1973, and I became overwhelmed at the tragedy. Tragedy for the babies, their mothers, their fathers, families, and us.
Who is our nation missing? What price is our society paying for the ultimate deceit of abortion?
40 years ago today, seven men on the Supreme Court decided in favor of a case presented to them from a 27 year-old, unknown, post-abortive lawyer, Sarah Weddington. That case was Roe v. Wade and, along with its companion Doe v. Bolton, it legalized abortion in all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason, in the United States.
Today, this 27 year-old is writing to you as a survivor of that decision. The undeniable fact is that nearly a third of my generation is missing. We are missing brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, husbands and wives.
You see, Miss Weddington’s generation got it wrong. In attempting to correct gender inequality in the workplace and in our society, they set into motion the ultimate act of discrimination – abortion. Instead of glorifying motherhood, they pitted the mother against her child, creating an endless cycle of selfishness, pain, and deceit.
But this generation is determined to set it right. We’ve seen the ultrasounds of our siblings, googled “abortion” and seen the bloody images, and sat with a friend as she cried about her abortion. This youth generation is the most pro-life generation of young people since 1973; we’re even more pro-life than even our parents’ generation. And this week our presence will be known as this generation will be the predominant participants in Friday’s March for Life in Washington, D.C. and pro-life rallies across the nation.
This week, we will be proudly carrying our “I am the Pro-Life Generation” signs, and Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry will watch their target audience slip away.
In fact, we already have. When Nancy Keenan, the former president of NARAL/Pro-Choice America, announced her resignation last year, she cited the lack of young pro-abortion leaders as the reason she wanted to step down. This month’s Time magazine headline story dealt with the same problem, claiming that the pro-abortion movement has been losing since 1973.
And last week’s new Planned Parenthood video and talking points on abortion confirm this fact. They don’t want to use the term “pro-choice” anymore because it’s too negatively associated with abortion. You see, they know when abortion is mentioned, their favorability falls. Their goal? Never bring it up.
So, what should be our goal? To bring up abortion in every conversation we can – in church, the grocery store, at school, and at the neighborhood party. To never forget about abortion, no matter how busy our lives may get or how sad or immobilized we become by this immense, overwhelming tragedy.
Friend, it’s time to rise up. Rise up off of your couch, out of your dorm room, or pew. Rise up and dedicate your life to something bigger than yourself.
It is the time for us to tell our stories to our friends and family about how abortion has hurt us. It’s time to paint the vision by telling people what our nation will look like without abortion and how it’s possible. It’s time to seek real justice with those young women and men facing unplanned, crisis pregnancies. It’s time to shine the light of truth, to expose Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry for what they really are.
It’s the time to stand courageously for Life.
Friends, I believe this generation of survivors will see abortion abolished in our lifetime. But it won’t be easy.
“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe
I hope today, on this day of overwhelming sorrow, you will join us. There’s so much you can do.
As I stated, I am sending this out to everyone I know. Please share this with everyone you know. It is not to late to shore up your ark.
My wife and I are here to help. Prophezine is here to help. But I am going to be honest and say that we need your help as well.
We need more PZ Insiders. Currently we only have 109 $10.00 a month PZ Insiders. You can do the math and figure out how much we bring in.
This year I am focusing on being more accountable to one's self and to God.
I am also focusing on being more self sustaining and also becoming the
"Sheep Dog" and stop being the "Sheeple."
Already I am begining to create new training videos.
I am calling this "The Servant Warrior" and I am welcoming you to join me on this path to be the better Christian, better person, better family member, better leader.
I have already been sending out articles and they are getting a GREAT responce. This is just the begining.
I honestly believe God is calling out a special group of people. People that will submit and live a proper life of honor, disipline, values, and biblical character.
Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
In this verse we read the words "AND HAVING DONE ALL."
Many people look over these words. What this means is to do all you can to prepare, train, get ready, armor up, etc.
This is my goal this year and I have chosen to walk this life publically.
How can I preach and teach something that I am not willing to do myself?
This world is beating us down. We can not change that. But we can change ourselves. We can work to improve ourselves Spiritually, Mentally and Physically. That is my goal this year.
I know that I am sick and tired of not being empowered. Well I am taking some of that back, getting off the couch and away from the TV and bettering myself.
I want to do more for God and for myself. I want to look in the mirror and see The Servant Warrior and not someone beat down by the world.
Let me ask you this.
When was the last time you looked in the mirror and felt good about you?
Join me on this path of The Servant Warrior, together we can make a difference.
But I am going to be honest, I need people to step forward and become PZ Insiders so that I can dedicate my time to this and in turn where you benefit.
Proverbs 3:27 "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it"
Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
